Lincoln Park Zoo Lights is still here, through January 7!

It’s still not too late to enjoy the holiday season at Lincoln Park ZooLights! Come and celebrate the 29th anniversary of this treasured holiday fun festival! This light show goes above and beyond your wildest imagination, and is a great change from the normal holiday routine. Do something different this holiday!

 

About Lincoln Park ZooLights  

Since 1995, Lincoln Park Zoo has held this annual festival of holiday lights.  Presented by ComEd and Invesco QQQ, the fest includes jaw-dropping displays, multiple photo opportunities, and interactive displays, with a big bow on your favorite holiday traditions. 

When:  Now through January 7, 2024

Cost: 

  • Mondays:  Free admission!
  • Most weeknights:  $7
  • Fridays, Saturdays, and Premium Dates (Nov 22, Dec 31) – $10 For group sales
  • over 50 guests, contact zoolightsgroups@lpzoo.org 
  • Member perks:  Members get up to eight free tickets, free or discounted parking, 20% off additional event ticket purchases, and further discounts on merchandise, food and beverage, and other items at the zoo.  “Becoming a member or gifting a membership is an incredible way to support the zoo and its mission througout the year, while taking advantage of some really great discounts and deals through the holiday season,”, said Gretchen Kirchmer, Lincoln Park Zoo’s Director of Marketing & Events. 
  • Tickets are transferable through Ticketure.  Customers are asked to please complete transfer arrangements prior to time of arrival.  Unfortunately, due to the volume of this event, refunds are not able to be offered. So Much To See and Do!

This year’s ZooLights will amaze those of all ages. Just a few of the fun activities and info about the displays are listed below:

Garden Glow Light Show on the South Lawn

ZooLights introduces amazing 2D and 3D lantern-style displays featuring flowers, dragonflies, birds, caterpillars and other life found in a garden.

The Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo light show and Houston Family Play Treehouse

A modern light show with an array of light poles and large and small glowing spheres has been unveiled.  For the first time, the new accessible climber (and bathrooms) are open every evening for hours of indoor play for the little ones.

Santa visits Pepper Family Wildlife Center

This year, Santa finds a new home in the wildlife center along with the traditional 18-foot holiday tree.  Pictures can be taken with Santa, and if the lion pride is active, they can be in the picture as well! 

 

Cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus 

Cookie decorators of all ages can get a cookie and fixings for just $8, and let those creative juices flow! On Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, Mrs. Clause will demonstrate cookie designs, talk to the cookie decorators, and offer cozy holiday cheer!

New music joins the traditional favorites

The beloved Victorian carolers will still be present, but in addition, a cappella carolers will be roaming the zoo.

Beyond the lights

Stilt walkers portraying the Elf on the Shelf and the Nutcracker, along with ice carvers on Main Hall, add an extra layer of holiday enchantment. Also, don’t miss a ride on the Ferris wheel for a breathtaking view of the festival of lights.

Family-friendly New Year’s Eve 

Special programming to ZooLights were added to help adults and families celebrate on December 31st, to include countdowns every hour, toasts with sparkling wine or juice, hot chocolate and DJ entertainment. Arts and crafts, festive food and local celebrities add even more excitement.

 

 

There’s so much more, from eateries featuring Mexican food, Italian fare, deli sandwiches, burgers, holiday treats, coffee, hot cocoa, warmed spice wine, and beer, to s’mores and other refreshments.  A family-friendly holiday tradition can be enjoyed and cherished at Lincoln Park’s ZooLights festival.  Enjoy!
