Foodies and food adventurers look forward to this time of year, every year. It’s the infamous Restaurant Week! Restaurant Weeks are usually longer than a week, and are held all across the country. Well, its Chicago’s turn…and Chicagoans take Restaurant Week VERY seriously! It’s time for Chicago’s 17th annual Restaurant Week!
What is Restaurant Week?
A 17-day celebration of the city’s award-winning culinary scene. It is common knowledge that Chicago has some of THE very best diverse and delicious food varieties and restaurants ANYWHERE in the U.S. Yes, it is true!
WHEN: Friday, January 19 through Sunday, February 4
WHERE: Participating restaurants spanning 31 Chicago neighborhoods, as well as the suburbs. From Schaumburg, to Oakbrook and Lombard, to West and South Loops, Ravenswood, Lincoln Park…your choices are endless!
WHO: Over 400 participating restaurants – and YOU!
WHAT: Diners can enjoy special prix fixe* menus for brunch and lunch ($25), and/or dinner ($42 or $59).
Prix fixe is a French term that simply means ‘fixed price’. In other words, “a pre-selected, complete meal/menu, offering a set number of courses at a single rate.” Below is an example of a prix fixe menu.
First Bites Bash Kicked Things Off
First Bites Bash, the official kick-off for Chicago Restaurant Week, marked the start of restaurant week on January 18th, from 6-9 pm at the Field Museum. It was an all-inclusive tasting event that showcased the city’s award-winning restaurant scene. The official start of Restaurant Week was on Friday, January 19.
