Chicago Marathon – Sunday, October 8, 2023

It is that time againRacers and spectators, on your mark, get set…let’s go! This year is special because it marks not only the 45th annual race, but the one millionth racer will cross the finish line. How exciting is thatThe slogan for the Bank of America marathon is “One of a million”. We are here to cheer on all the racers for the monumental event.  

The very first Chicago marathon had only 4,200 runners to participate. This race was held September 25, 1977, and was called the Mayor Daley Marathon. 47,000 are expected for this year’s race!

GOOSE ISLAND BEER CO. POST-RACE CELEBRATIONS 

The fun doesn’t stop at 26.2…let’s have fun at the 27th Mile Post-Race Party at one of the five Goose Island Post-Race Participant Celebrations throughout the city.  

If you are one of the first 312 runners to arrive at any of the five locations wearing a 2023 finisher medal, an Urban Wheat Ale is on the house! 

This year’s Goose Island post-race participant celebrations will take place at:

  • Hard Rock Cafe (63 W. Ontario St., Chicago, IL 60654) 

  • Did you know there is another race happening at the same time? What a perfect way to be a part of all the marathon happenings by attending The Abbott Chicago 5KTake in all of the beautiful Chicago, landmarks, and scenery while runners accomplish the 3.1-mile. 
  • Did you know that in recognition of each runner’s participation on race day, the event will make a two-dollar donation to the American Diabetes Association for every participant who crosses the finish line? There are 69,000 runners scheduled for both the 5k and the marathon.
