font-variant-caps: normal; font-family: ventures-book; font-size: 18px; font-weight: 400; color: #414042;\">Ironically, Saint Patrick was born in Great Britain &#8211; not Ireland &#8211; to wealthy parents, near the end of the fourth century.\u00a0 When he was 16 years old, Patrick was taken prisoner by a group of Irish raiders who were attacking his family&#8217;s estate.\u00a0 He was transported to Ireland where he spent six years in captivity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-family: ventures-book; font-size: 18px; font-weight: 400; color: #414042;\">Saint Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #414042; font-family: ventures-book; font-size: 18px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400;\">He is believed to have died on March 17th, around 460 A.D., and St. Patrick&#8217;s Day observes his death, while celebrating the heritage and culture of the Irish in general.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #414042; font-family: ventures-book; font-size: 23px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 600;\">Symbols and Traditions<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #414042;
