He was credited for bringing this unique sound to the South Side of Chicago at parties.\u00a0 The new music style gained acceptance and popularity, and echoed through backyard summer barbecues. DJ Wayne found himself dee jaying a different party every night.\u00a0 The young entrepreneur quickly built an electric empire.<\/p>\n<p>Recognizing the need to expand, he founded The Chosen Few Disco Corporation (later renamed The Chosen Few DJs), and brought other young DJs on board &#8211; Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Alan King, and Andre Hatchett &#8211; whose skills and passion would help shape the sound that became house music.<\/p>\n<p>To the original group of five, two new members were added: Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn, in 2006 and 2012, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3108 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fellowshipfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Chosen-Few-Djs-2-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fellowshipfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Chosen-Few-Djs-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fellowshipfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Chosen-Few-Djs-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/fellowshipfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Chosen-Few-Djs-2.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0&#8211;<em>The Chos<\/em><em>en Few DJs: (T<\/em><em>op) Alan King, Founder Wayne Williams, and Jesse Saunders. (Bottom) Tony Hatchett, Andre Hatchett, Mike Dunn, and Terry Hunter<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h1><strong>The Chosen Few Picnic<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ll tell you, there are a lot of reasons why we decided to do the picnic. The first is that a lot of us had moved out of town. The second was that even those that still lived here \u2013 Alan and Andre \u2013 weren\u2019t getting asked to DJ at other people\u2019s clubs, and they weren\u2019t DJing consistently. They were doing a party here and a party there but you can\u2019t wait for people to ask you to DJ, you just have to do your own party.<\/p>\n<p>So we\u2019d all come here around the 4th of July and all of us would be in town and the first thing people would say is \u201cWhere y\u2019all DJing?\u201d Well, no one\u2019s asked us to play anywhere! That\u2019s when I said we should do a picnic, and me and Alan kind of put it together from that point.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The first time we had a picnic, I\u2019d say maybe 75 to 150 people were out there and it kept growing and growing and growing.
